A beautiful reimagining of the classic vanity table, this bespoke creation from Udbhava – The Museum Studio brings together heritage art, antique teak, and Colonial-Indic elegance.
Designed as a functional heirloom for contemporary living, the vanity features a spacious central compartment, a mirror-lined lid, green baize lining inspired by vintage writing desks, twin side drawers with ornate brass handles, and graceful Chippendale-style legs.
The idea for the piece comes from a childhood memory. Growing up, Gayathri and her sister owned a compact vanity case gifted by their grandfather, complete with layered compartments, a mirror beneath the lid, and dedicated spaces for everyday essentials. This vanity reimagines that intimate experience at an architectural scale.
At its centre, sits a Raja Ravi Varma print of a woman in quiet reflection, framed by hand-painted parrot panels inspired by older decorative motifs. The side panels are interchangeable and can be customised, allowing each piece to evolve with its owner.
Part furniture, part memory, the vanity becomes a private space for pause, ritual, and self-expression.
