Small enough to give, made to keep for years
Handcrafted from 100-year-old reclaimed Burma teak and finished with the lustre of Kancheepuram silk, these coasters bring heritage to the everyday table, given singly or in curated sets for occasions and events.
Product OverView
A coaster is among the most handled objects in a home, which makes it a fitting place for heritage to live. Udhbava’s coasters pair the durability of century-old reclaimed Burma teak with the lustre of Kancheepuram silk, a small celebration of Indian artistry made for daily use.
They have become a natural choice for gifting at scale. One hundred were handcrafted for a client who wanted specially curated gifts for a memorable event, and the coasters, together with Udhbava’s teak photo frames, were selected as exclusive corporate gifts for Diwali, finding their way onto the tables of many homes that festive season.
What suits the coasters to both personal and corporate gifting is their balance of the meaningful and the practical. They are small enough to give in numbers, yet each carries reclaimed teak with its own grain and a touch of silk that recalls India’s weaving heritage. For a host, a business or a family celebration, they are a gift that is used daily and remembered for its material and story.
Design Details
The form is compact and quiet, letting materials carry the design. The visible grain of old teak meets the colour and light-catching lustre of silk, and that contrast gives a utilitarian object its decorative character. Made in sets, the coasters read as a collection on the table, with the natural variation of the wood keeping each one individual.
Raw Material & Craftsmanship
Each coaster is handcrafted from 100-year-old reclaimed Burma teak, chosen for its durability and the depth of its aged grain. Kancheepuram silk, one of India’s most celebrated handwoven textiles, adds lustre and a link to ceremonial tradition. Reclaiming the teak gives old timber a second, everyday life.

FAQ’s
A few things worth knowing before you choose, commission or gift a piece from Udhbava.
Yes. Every creation is handcrafted with care and attention to detail. Many pieces are made in limited quantities, and some involve artisan-led production, from hand-carving and hand-painting to embroidery and silk inlay.
Because each piece is made by hand, often from old wood, vintage textiles or natural materials, slight variations in colour, texture, finish or appearance are natural. Grain, patina and the marks of the hand are part of the character of an artisan-made object. They are not defects.
The studio works mainly with heritage and natural materials. These include century-old and reclaimed Burma teak, rosewood, tea tree wood and padauk, marble, granite, brass and glass, and vintage Kanchipuram and Banaras silks. For Sutra, the fabrics are linen, hemp linen and handwoven cotton. Each product page lists the materials used for that piece.
As our products are handcrafted and produced in limited quantities, availability may change without prior notice. Some pieces, particularly in Udhbava Reclaimed and the carved tables, are one of a kind. Use Enquire Now on any product page to check current availability.
Yes. Select Commission a Similar Piece on the product page and share what you have in mind. Where a piece is one of a kind, such as a reclaimed table or a carved tea tree table, we can discuss creating something in the same spirit. The exact result will depend on the materials available.
Often, yes. Bespoke work at Udhbava begins with a simple invitation: bring us what you cherish. An old piece of furniture or a family sari, for instance, can be repurposed into a silk-inlaid tray. Tell us about what you have, and we will discuss what it might become.
Yes. Pieces from Udhbava Gifting, such as our teak and silk coasters, have been made in curated sets for events and selected as corporate gifts for Diwali. Get in touch with the quantity and occasion, and we will discuss what is possible.
